Road Trip from Half Moon Bay to Big Sur, It was heartening to see Big Basin Redwoods State Park showing strong regrowth after a devastating wildfire in 2020. Henry Cowell Redwoods Park was spared from wildfire and is looking awesome. The Point Lobos Nature Preserve is beautiful and draws so many people that by mid-day visitors are parking along Highway 1 down from the entrance. The Monterey Aquarium is one of the finest we’ve seen. We also enjoyed browsing the vendors on the pier south of the aquarium. We tasted interesting wines from several wineries in the Carmel Valley. Lunch at Nepenthe in Big Sur is so special because of the fantastic view and vibe. There is also a cool artsy shop just below the restaurant.
