We enjoyed a wonderful cruise from Montreal up the St. Lawrence Seaway around to Boston with a loop road trip. Ports with excursions on Quebec City, Charlottetown, PEI, Sydney, NS, Halifax, NS, Bar Harbor, ME and Boston, MA. We then rented an SUV and drove to interesting places in New England. Old Quebec City is awesome with a vibe of being in Europe. Friendly with great food and scenery. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, included a visit to a falconry where we experienced a cool demonstration with Peregrine Falcons and Harris Hawks. In Sydney, Nova Scotia, we attended a foot-stomping Cape Breton Island fiddle concert. Out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, we walked on the Ocean floor at the Bay of Fundy where the highest tide range in the World is experienced. In Bar Harbor, Maine, we took a tour of Acadia National Park. In each port we were able to walk around in the port area to experience local shops and food.
On our road trip, we drove the Kancamagus Scenic Byway in New Hampshire and visited several waterfalls along the road. A hike along the Franconia Notch Flume in New Hampshire was a fantastic experience. Lunch and shopping in Littleton, NH was charming. Stowe, Vermont is a scenic small town with the nearby Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Factory. Had a ferry adventure crossing Lake Champlain from Vermont to upstate, New York. Lake Placid and Cooperstown, New York were our next stops. Two days at Mohonk Mountain House, NY were not enough. A beautiful and peaceful escape in such a scenic preserve. Next was Mystic Seaport, CT to immerse ourselves in the history of old sailing ships. Then a couple days in Newport, Rhode Island. Loved the Cliff Wak, harborside dining and people watching on Thames Street. Finishing up with a day out on Cape Cod was busy, but enjoyable.
